"So enter the gates of Hell to dwell therein. Indeed evil is the abode of the proud. [ The Qur'an - An-Nahl (16):29]

Nouman Ali Khan talks about a topic that is hardly discussed today, Pride and Ego. He gives us examples from our lives of how we express our superiority. How some of us look down upon other Muslims, how we use religion to promote our pride, though the purpose of religion is to be humble.

He gives some valuable tips on overcoming it.

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh

Alhamdulillah I once lived in Columbia, Mo., 11 years ago (miss it). Today I came upon video/ talk on a very important topic. Alhamdulillah I am happy to see this finally brought to the attention of the Muslim community, regardless of age, gender or education,or status. Insha'allah May Allah(SWT) reward you in this life and the next.

Arrogance and pride are twins of the same source, Shaytan, but can be cleverly disguised as " just informing or helping" when practiced? You have hit the nail on the head with your definition and it's causes. First time I have heard someone say a truth about this topic, although widely practiced regardless of State, Country or gender.

Next: I would like to hear your thoughts on the usage of the title "New Muslim" or "New Muslima" My question is based on my own journey and experiences ... how long does one have to be "New" before they graduate to "Alhamdulillah! You are Muslim"
I am still recognized as "New" from state to state or Country to country 11 year later.I just politely say Alhamdulillah. Next, I often wonder what the Sahabah thought or said to those who accepted Islam. What would or did the Prophet Muhammad (Salalahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) say when anyone during His lifetime accepted Islam? Alhamdulillah ?
