Imam Abdullah will discuss some of the following topics in his Ramadan Daily dars before Ishaa:

The second juz of the Qur’an starts at Suratul-Baqarah ayah 142 and goes to Suratul-Baqarah ayah 252.  In these verses, Some of the points that Allah (SWT) talks about are:

  1. Establishing the Ka’bah as the Qiblah (direction of prayer). verses 144-150.
  2. Allah is going to test all of us with our wealth, health, and families.  So, it is upon us to be patient and put our trust in Allah during the times that Allah is testing us. verses 155-156.
  3. There are those who take partners along with Allah.  They love them and worship them when they are supposed to only love and worship Allah.  Allah has no partners and those who worship other than Allah will face a severe punishment. verses 165-167
  4. Allah establishes the obligation of fasting in Ramadan.  Also, there are some people who are exempt from fasting like the elderly and the terminally ill.  There are also those who do not have to fast that particular day but must make it up at another time like those who are sick or traveling.  Allah informs us about when to begin and end our fast in the day, abstaining beginning at the time of Fajr and breaking the fast at the time of Maghrib. verses 183-187
  5. Allah establishes the obligation of Hajj and talks about some of the practices that are to be performed during Hajj. verses 196-203
  6. Allah prohibits the believing men and women from marrying polytheists.  Allah mentions that it is better to marry a believing slave than to marry a free polytheist, even though the polytheist may be a person who is desirable. verse 221
  7. Allah talks about the rules of divorce and the Idda (waiting period of the divorced woman).  Divorce is an act of worship like marriage is an act of worship.  There are rules that have to be followed and if we disobey Allah in it, we are subject to his punishment just like any other act of worship that we disobey Allah in. verses 226-232
  8. Allah talks about breast feeding the newborn baby and the responsibility of the father of the child towards the breast feeding mother. verse 233

May Allah bless all of us and guide us all in our affairs.
